Tennyson Center for Children is a non-profit organization in Denver that partners with kids and families impacted by neglect, abuse, and trauma to find personalized paths to healing. Their programs include school and day treatment, community-based programming, and residential services. Our fitness instructor, Alyssa, services as an occupational therapist at this facility. She is hosting a donation-based class to raise awareness for her clients’ experiences at Tennyson Center and asking for help to provide therapeutic services in the community through activities such as rock climbing. The students will be targeting skills such as motor planning and coordination, emotional regulation, communicating with their peers, and managing behaviors through a motivating activity.

Inspired by Himalayan Kriya yoga, this class introduces several pranayama (breath work) and Kriya techniques to students in a flow based setting. Kriya yoga has been around for thousands of years and is fondly known as evolutionary action because Kriyas work with the subtle energetic body to elicit change and transformation. They include repetitive movements coordinated with breath. They may also include mudras, mantras and bandhas. They are each designed for a specific purpose and can be used to help release anger, frustration, negativity, and more. It can help students to understand what energy/emotions they carry and provide an emotional release.
 
Students can expect to explore how energy moves in their physical body in relation to the breath.

Inspired by Himalayan Kriya yoga, this class introduces several pranayama (breath work) and Kriya techniques to students in a flow based setting. Kriya yoga has been around for thousands of years and is fondly known as evolutionary action because Kriyas work with the subtle energetic body to elicit change and transformation. They include repetitive movements coordinated with breath. They may also include mudras, mantras and bandhas.
