WEEKEND WARRIORS!

Diet, Fitness, Gear, Health, Mind, Tips, Yoga

Do you ever feel like you do great during the week and then fall off of the clean eating and exercise wagon on your weekend?  Do you go from “in check” to “out of control?” Do you slide into Monday completely exhausted and wonder how the weekend failed to rejuvenate you?  Not that I want you to feel this way, but I am so glad I am not the only one!

A majority of people have a routine during the week – good or bad – and then the weekend is just a mess.  Specifically with their health and fitness – people fall off the wagon hard during this time.  Some people manage to make it to the gym on Saturday mornings and then spend the rest of their weekend eating their one “cheat meal.”  However, they fail to realize that the 30 minutes of walking on the treadmill they did in the morning, does not cancel out the 5,000 calories of chips and salsa they have Saturday afternoon.

May I offer this? Have a plan!  I know — no one likes rules, and you probably just rolled your eyes. In all seriousness, if you have a plan for your meals and fitness,  your success with will improve in short order. With a plan, you can succeed. Without a plan… well then who knows what happens.  And I want you to succeed! I want you to be fit and healthy and I want you to arrive at Monday morning with some excitement and a sense of anticipation for great things — not with a hangover, in need of some Tums.

Here are 4 things you can do to “plan” your weekend:

1.     Plan your outings and prepare your food. Prepare meals beforehand, or Google some healthy places to eat that will be near your activities.

2.     Lay out your workout gear. Keep it in your face so you know it is a priority.  If you have a rest day on a weekend day, lay out a meditation or a good book that you can relax with.

3.     Activate yourself as soon as you get up. Get your priorities out of the way so you can enjoy your weekend.

4.     Never settle for your own excuses.  Don’t fall victim to the mentality of, “it’s the weekend, so who cares” or excuses of others who want you to eat junk or do destructive things just so they have some company.
